Living Skills

Renting a place to live is just the first step of setting up your own living space. You’ll have to make arrangements to turn on the basic utilities (Gas, Electricity, Water, and Garbage), put in a telephone, decide whether or not to subscribe to a cable TV service, locate furnishings if your place is not already furnished, outfit your kitchen with pots, pans, plates and utensils, obtain sheets and blankets for your bed, get towels and other bathroom accessories, and any other essentials you might need.

To help you get set up we’ve included some information about local utilities, how to manage your money, banking, how to be an effective consumer, and where and how you might scrounge up some of the items you may need without having to buy them new.
